Temporaries are an important aspect of the crown & bridge treatment plan! The following are some guidelines to aide in the prevention of damage to the gingiva and drifting, erupting and/or extrusion of the dentition.
A. Keep the subgingival coverage very thin to avoid damage to the gingiva while in use.
B. Prepare good contacts to prevent drifting of prepared teeth as well as adjacent dentition.
Correct Method
C. Posterior crowns and bridges should be in good occlusion to eliminate eruption of the prepared tooth/teeth or extrusion or the opposing dentition. This can create occlusal problems when the finished case is delivered.
