Tips for Taking Shades
- Take shade before anesthetizing and preparing 18 hours for
teeth to re-hydrate after prepping.
- Always drape the patient in light blue
or light gray.
- Have patient remove lipstick if they haven't already.
- Have the
patient keep their teeth moist with saliva. It affects the
value if the tooth is dull. This is important when using
the 3D Guide.
- Get as detailed as possible on the Rx
with characterization. Every piece of information helps.
- Notice texture.
- If bleeding, wait 2 weeks to take shade.
- We need the shade for the prep of an all-porcelain crown
- Take
photo with shade tab on the same plane.
